Center for Digital Research & Scholarship invites you to a Workshop "Research Data Management"
Center for Digital Research & Scholarship at NaUKMA, NaUKMA Scientific Library in cooperation with the ELIBUKR (Electronic Library of Ukraine) are happy to invite you to a Workshop "Research Data Management", which will be held on October 9, 2017, at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (Kyiv, Ukraine) with a participation of foreign specialists.
The main issues covered during the workshop are open science and open data, research data management in science.
The workshop targets scientists and librarians who are interested in the topic of implementation of research management services.
Renaine Julian - is the Associate Director of STEM Libraries as Florida State University. He has a Masters in Library and Information Studies, a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning, and a bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning, all from Florida State University. During Renaine’s career as a data and science librarian, he has worked with researchers at FSU’s campus to make research data publicly available and as well as educate students and faculty on how to become better stewards of research data and information. His research interests include: research data management, scholarly communication, data information literacy and, citizen science.
Presentation Title: Issues and Strategies in the Effectiveness of Research Data Stewardship: Perspectives from the U.S. and Florida State University.
Presentation Abstract: This presentation will cover current best practices and current issues in management of research data. It will also include an overview developments related to data management activities in the United States including: academic institutions, academic libraries, and funding agencies. There will be a discussion of how to meet data management challenges and demands at the institution level using Florida State University as a case study.
Workshop Title: Getting Started: Identifying and meeting research data management needs at the organizational level.
Workshop Abstract: This workshop is designed for participants to discuss and develop strategies on preserving the research data at that is being produced at their institution. It will also include hands on activities related to needs assessments and developing a rudimentary strategic plan to provide research data management services and support at their organization.
